Probably you have a gempath set to use 1.9.3 gems but are using a ruby
1.8.7. I would create a 'puppet' rvm gemset, use it, and install puppet
from gems.

First, you can use the file type instead of the exec type. Source can be a
local path.
Second, in a define you must add $name to the title of every resource to
prevent duplicate definition errors.
Third, I would build a hash of every file in your list, then call
create_resources() on that hash.

The other day I was on IRC and someone asked how to export strings in
PuppetDB. As far as I am aware this isn't possible with PuppetDB. It is
possible with certain hiera backends.
I've created a hiera_insert module at

I've developed the following pattern. Please don't hate.
[nibz@pdxudev01 sandbox]$ cat testpuppetfailtemplate.sh
$bar = 'lies'
$derp=inline_template("<%= @bar || scope.function_fail(['die']) %>")
notify { $derp: }
Which produces:
[nibz@pdxudev01 sandbox]$ puppet apply testpuppetfailtemplate.s
s ~= the running user, but nothing for the group.
I've written three facts into my rootless module:
$puppet_user
$puppet_group
$puppet_user_home
These are very small facts that just read information from getent.
Again I'm mostly using Puppet to roll out the application.
