We use
Big Brother to great effect. There is a memory leakage issue
with BB 1.9c and RH9 though. It uses a client server model to serve up a
series of checks to a web server which can then be monitored. It also
sends email notifications. It is also free to use for public
sector.
Personally, I am a fan of Nagios for status
monitoring, combined wit hMRTF for utilization
monitoring.
