FYI,
I had to rm /tmp/MCOP-userid to get things to work in a non-root account.
These two play, but do not display a control panel. They also stop the music
(close plugger) correctly when changing tabs or exiting.

It seems that if I install both desktops and the applications for both
on my rh8 workstation, I'm able to pick the applications I prefer on
either desktop. I don't expect them all to work, but I'm pleased with
what does work.

Mozilla's Composer works really well, and will be sure to generate pages
that are viewable in the Mozilla browser. I also haven't had a problem
