I like X-CD-Roast, I found it easy to install and it works very well.

thanks for this reply, I posted my response before I saw it. Before the
solution, the etc/hosts was empty, also I tried it unsuccessfully with a line
localhost.localdomain
As I mentioned I found a solution was to add a line
192.168.100.4 localhost.localdomain beta localhost
Greg
menu Server Settings/Services. I found a list of services and canna was
ticked - removing the tick solved this problem.
sorry about this unnecessary noise!

r_0.9.1adi_rev5, alsa_driver_0.9.1, and
alsa_driver_0.9.6. I also install the lib and utility files, eg for 0.9.1 I
installed alsa-lib-0.9.1 and alsa-utils-0.9.1.
The sound modules load with modprobe (I check with lsmod).

The binary will be installed as:
/lib/modules/2.4.18-18.8.0/kernel/drivers/net
5. Install the module:
insmod e100
6. Add to /etc/modules.conf the line:
alias eth0 e100
Then reboot, and the network module is found and installed during the boot
sequence.

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated. I am near the point of buying a

I recently installed RH8.0 on my Dell Inspiron 2500 laptop, which is
dual boot and I have 2 DOS drives mounted. I get this message on
boot-up: checking filesystems - Fat32 support is still ALPHA.
Has anyone experience with this message, are there ever any bad effects
of alpha support?
Greg
d not work; I had to track down a patch at
gurulabs.com, but this fixed the problem right away.
So now this laptop is very good shape.
Thanks for the help

tion, and it behaved normally.
Can any number of problems cause this, or is there some change between
versions 7.1 and 7.2 that is/are likely the cause ? All the cds referred to
above came from Cheapbytes.
Greg
I started the PC with the install cd1, and at the boot prompt did
linux mediacheck
For each of the 3 Pink Tie disks, the result was fail.
I then repeated this in a different PC, and all 3 disks passed fine.
So it looks like the problem is the cd. Thanks for the lead.

why the network card might not be recognized?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Does this sound correct?
One of my interests is in UML development with a stripped down linux
distro that runs off a floppy or readonly cdrom. The distro is a

talks about debian, but
tips, or experiences that they can share

Or, even lazier people, can just press ctrl+alt+esc, which is the same
as kill -9. A scull appears on the screen, and you just click on the
program which is no longer responding.

r the connection (address,
command, display number).
BTW: maybe you need to configure Xmanager to use SSH connection?
Also how could I forgot VNC?!
But I think that Xmanager is better.
Also try Hummingbird and there are few others.
Go-Globe works nicely (it uses both client and server sides).
Kind Regards,
Hi, Alberto
I think you may find useful some kind of "graphical telnet"
configuration.
This way you can have several users connect to single Linux server and
perform their work independently.
I can suggest you can try Xmanager or Hummingbird.
Cheers, Greg

notebook.
Try pressing "DEL" or "CTRL-ALT-ESC" During the POST.

I use Pro-FTPD, it is more difficult to setup, but has greater
configurablitly.
otherwise use :
updatedb ( index your drives )
locate ftp (will list all files it finds with "ftp" somewhere in the name)
spz
afterwards also
gives some more info.

Nope, you can setup Xinerama with the standard MGA driver from XFree86.
