At any rate, I could not find any actual PSPP bugs running this syntax.

Hi,
I just installed psppire.exe 0.8.2-gf8ea4b to run under Windows Vista
Home and did some calculation to prepare an analysis when the prog crashed.
The syntax that created the crash is as follows:
recode d11 (15 thru 24=1)(25 thru 34=2)(35 thru 55=3)(55 thru 64=4)(65

with carriage return
(without a line feed). Did you start editing it with

Using Windows XP and version psppire.exe 0.7.8-g997322. I've decided it's
simply the computer I'm using--it can't handle the program...going to
switch over to using my laptop with Windows 7.
Will let you all know if the problem continues with Windows 7.
