I have had success in the past with Limesurvey -> PSPP by replacing the
following line in the syntax file:
/QUALIFIER="'"
with (i.e. adding /ESCAPE):
/QUALIFIER="'" /ESCAPE
I'm not sure if that is the issue but see how you go.

This is too complicated to me.
My hints:
- You have to print the entire first line of the data and see whether
your formats and the data fit (like in the last century).
- What about entering the .dat file into a spreadsheet to see whether
