But then one rpm-ifies the entire structure, and the postfix/postdrop
user/group comes in magically? Or does the package maintainer
has to do this manually?

Hm...
setgid_group = postdrop
is present in main.cf. The only changes I made to main.cf are in regards
to alias_maps and the my* parameters.

So, how does the setting for query_filter (which I believe corresponds to
the filter provided to ldapsearch if invoked on the command line) affect
the search base?
Did I miss out something? Or do I simply misinterpret the error message?

1. Does the install script not set the correct permissions/ownerships
on installed files? From the logs:
