Hello-
Ive been trying to debug timeouts on my postfix 2.9.4 +
dovecot 2.1.8 + mysql 5.x problems lately (when I find time to
dig into it) with no luck. Ive read as many online articles
as I can but still cant find the issue. This is a new configuration
using mysql and dovecot on fedora 17.

I think I sent my post to the wrong email, so Im re-posting.
I recently installed a new linux box with an older (2.8.x) postfix config.
Everything seemed to go fine, but when I try to send mail from the linux
box using /bin/mailx I get the following in the shell:
send-mail: invalid option -- 'i'
Hi-
In the last few days I noticed that email I send to my gmail
account from my postfix server never makes it to gmail.
I havent touched the config in a few weeks so nothing should
have changed from when it worked. My server relays through
my ISP. My domain DNS records are working fine and I
That fixed it. I knew it would be something
simple, in the end it usually is.
Thanks so much Noel!

And did postfix log that this session authenticated?
Noand I think I see the problem, but not sure where it is.
When I telnet localhost 25 and authenticate I get:

Im assuming digest-md5 is good enough, unless
you think another mechanism is better?

Dumb question Im sure, b
Im going out of my mind trying to get relaying working
for my users who want to use my domain as their smtp
outgoing server.
Ive setup SASL and TLS successfully (I believe).
I have the following:
relay_transport = hash:/etc/postfix/transport
and in transport I have:
.mydomain.com :

After hours of digging into this, that particular message
seems to have come up because I didnt want plaintext
coming across in the smtp connection so I set:
smtpd_sasl_security_options = noanonymous, n

Not exactly, Ive been reading all kinds of docs and since
Im new to some of it, Im a little confused between
SASL and TLS. I've used postfix for a while bu
Im trying to setup SASL+TLS+dovecot. Overall Ive
gotten things somewhat working, but have a couple questions
since Im new to this aspect of postfix.
I get 'fatal: no SASL authentication mechanisms' in maillog
I ran saslfinger and it showed no mechanisms,

Im sorry if this is a basic question, but googling it
has me more confused. I need to relay my u...@domain
(where Im located) to a remote server I own to email.
Im not located on my own domain name, Im on an AT&T
connection, but want to send to a domain I own
(which runs postfix).

I have a situation with hosting.com, trying to setup
a friends postfix config. Since I knew nothing about
them I asked him to find out what their smtp server
was. They said that we cannot use it and gave us a link
to setup postfix, however they show no relayhost (smtp)
server in the config!

Im having problems with the mail file being produced
when I setup procmail + postfix:
Ive setup global procmail with the following in
my master.cf file:

Im not nearly as versed in postfix as I would like to
be. Ive tried to figure this log message out but Im not
sure whats really going on:
