I think I was being a bit dim last night - didn't really realise that
the mechanism I'd used to create the playlist in fact created a
parameterised playlist!
What i really wanted to do was create a playlist "hard coded" to a
specific non-dynamic playlist (basically using dynamic playlist to

Ah thanks both - I'll investigate further... I did know about the heart

to add as a Favourite! :-)
I'll try some alternative tactics!

If I remember correctly, playlists that requests a parameter currently
can't be used as SqueezeCenter favorites.
You can select them as a Dynamic Playlist favor
In the Web UI, you should be able to go to Home > Dynamic Playlists
(under Music Library), then find the playlist in the list and click the
heart. I'll attach a screen shot.

Ah ok, working much better now - there seems to be one exception - if I
create my own playlist (in this case I was wanting to create a version
of a regular playlist which randomises and also makes sure tracks
aren't repeated within 3 days), I'm having problems getting that into
the Favorites group

Just had a quick play around - I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong
or not...
I've installed Trackstat and DynamicPlaylist, and also SQLPlaylist.
Within the Alarm UI I can see a menu entry for DynamicPlaylist but
nothing is listed under that, I expected some of the usual Trackstat
playlists
That is fantastic news - I'll get downloading now! :-)

Personally I swapped for three reasons:
- auto-shuffle - won't be relevant with Dynamic Playlists anyway as
I'll do the randomising in the playlist
- multiple alarms
- duration of alarm (i.e. set it to 60 mins).
I'm not sure what other people use it for - it seems quite popular!

I guess this is a question for KDF more than you really, but does this
mean it would then work in ExtendedAlarm automatically in 7.2 - as it
would be picked up when the Alarm requests the list of playlists on the

If you don't get it to work directly, it might not be worth the trouble
since there will be official support for this in Dynamic Playlist when
SqueezeCenter 7.2 is released.
Sorry for the delay, have been on holiday - i'll try this out in the

It shouldn't make a difference if you are using TrackStat or SQL

Ok, here are 2 log files, one is when the alarm tries to swap from a

I should add that all my testing uses TrackStat playlists - is that
likely to be the cause of the problem?

Did some initial testing of this, and it seems to partially work.
If my current listening playlist is a Dynamic Playlist, and the alarm
triggers, it will resume playing that playlist. Which is great.
However, if I'm not listening to a Dynamic Playlist at the time of the
alarm it refuses to swap
Thats excellent, thanks for looking into that Erland. I'll try it out

I had a play at doing the work to merge these 2 at the weekend with
mixed success.
I got it so that DynamicPlaylist was registering custom playlists with
ExtendedAlarm. I could then select these in the settings page and that
all worked ok (found one bug which I can forward to you if you want).

That would be ideal I think, yes!
As an interim, or simpler alternative, do you have any code which parse
out the output from dynamicplaylist playlists? I was really struggling
to see how to turn that into something I could use in the settings
page?

kdf, if you are reading this, is there some way you could provide an
API in the ExtendedAlarm plugin
Sorry to dredge up a really old thread...
Did anyone investigate doing this "fully"? I.e. so you can select the
dynamic playlist from KDF's Extended Alarm settings page and it then
uses that for the alarm?
I had a quick play, and I can get it to play a dynamic playlist of my
choice (by manually

Controllator, I just realised you had entered the playlist name in your
first post, so in your case I think the command with correct playlist
id should be:
Code:
$client->execute(['dynamicplaylist', 'playlist', 'play',
'sqlplaylist_Clean%20Random%20albums']);
-
You should use the CLI interface towards the Dynamic Playlist plugin,
something like:
Code:
$client->execute(['dynamicplaylist', 'playlist', 'play', 'sqlplaylist_XXX']);
Where 'sqlplaylist_XXX' is the id of the playlist.
To see which id a spec
