BTRFS option is available under custom partitioning in Mandriva Spring
2010.1, but could not get it to format my partitions for BTRFS which
doing an install...
Any suggestions...?

I just upgraded the machine to Mandriva Spring 2010.1 now, and changed
the boot loder back to LILO assuming it would give me equivalent of
what GRUB is for loading image... and as expected, the LILO did
configure it correctly though I have not used it yet...
So my new lilo.conf tell me how to use
