Firstly, this is a different issue than the original #588468, so it would
deserve its own bug, probably at minor or wishlist level.
Secondly, this is not completely fixable. All VLC knows is that it has no
support for the codec. I don't see any solution a

Among with the error reported into bug #588468,
vlc displays an error message in the gnome GUI which says
"there is nothing to do to correct this problem".
Instead, it should tell the user to install the vlc-plugin-zbvi package.
