just tested it on my box: win xp sp2, apache 2.2.2, php 5.1.4 and 1gb of
ram. ran it under CLI.
copied your code and and created a 0 btye test.bat file.
rebooted the machine so a fresh start.
first time, i actually gained 3 megs of ram back, after the process
timed out after 60 se

if you have a windows machine (2000 or xpm heck evene the vista beta),
you can REMOTE DESKTOP into the server. uses secured connection. then
you can edit the files locally...

thought i had locked down the settings but my work network people said
it was being used for spam relay that ended that experiment.
i am now thinking of using a class to send out email via external SMTP
server...

have you tried the two AMP (APACHE, MYSQL and PHP trio) packages available from
http://www.sourceforge.net?
they have an installer for all three... no mess no fuss...

both for win32...
