Apache httpd runs as a single user. If on unix and using CGI then the

(http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/suexec.html). For PHP, using "safe

If php4 is looking in c:\winnt for php.ini and there is not one there,
then you can put it there. All parameters in php.ini have some form of

Check it, but I think you will find the PHPRC is only when PHP is run as

Daniel,
The phpinfo() function will show you what you compiled into php at
compile time with the configure command. Perhaps you did not put things
you want into configure?
HTH
Chris
php#configuration.file
implies that PHPRC, and starting PHP with the -c switch, is only for the
CLI or CGI versions. I am guessing but I suspect you have PHP as an
Apache DSO.
You would need to recompile PHP to change the location of php.ini. I
would ask yourself if you really _need_ php.ini somewhere other than in
/etc.

Paul,
That is a DSO library file. I expect it is not being generated because
you do not have --with-apxs as part of your configure options. The
INSTALL file in the PHP sources has information on the various ways of
compiling PHP.

You are welcome. I should tell you that I have compiled PHP 5 here but I

Another point. As you compiled PHP --with-apxs then it will be as an

Does the form submitting to this page use POST or GET? You seem to have
a mixture of the two. The error message you get simply tells you that in
