a bit more about my setup. the machine uses amd 4850e cpu with 8gb of ram in
raidz2, with 8 wd green 1TB drives, and 1 wd 1TB black drive as the boot drive.
the file server is mainly used for storing photos and ripped dvds.

i was wondering what is the recommended way to measure the performance of zfs.
i think my performance isn't as good as it should be, but with no measurement,
i don't even know is my assumption is correct or wrong.
