Pretty much Universally, lens elements should not have marks on them.

P.S. I'm hoping this will prove an uncontroversial statement.
You eat kids for dessert? How barbarian! Kidzilla.

Marks that are in a circular pattern are called circumferential, and
marks that start in or about the center of the lens and traverse the
lens surface to the outside are called radial marks.

Hi, Mike,
Some of my best conversations are with myself. I normally agree with
myself. And, I always listen.

Generally speaking people who scrub lenses (argh!) to clean them do it
round and round and not radially. Radial marks are quite unusual and bear
investigation merely because they are such. Lens cleaning is an art and
should only be carried out by someone who is a master of that art. One very

Pal,
I'd check the camera back first. It sounds like that plate that presses
against the film may have gotten bound up somehow. If the spring isn't
working properly on one side then it could cause the effect you're
experiencing.

All that is fine. The problem is when you start answering to yourself.

I've always considered myself a good cleaner, but have a couple of questions.
I use Q-tips, moistened with water, and after breathing moist, warm
breath on the glass, I lightly apply the tip, starting at the lens
center, and spiralling outward to the filter ring threads. Throw the
tip away.

Hi,
I ~think~ this may well be the Swatch car that I've heard about - yes, that's
Swatch as in the watch people. I can't remember, but I think Swatch has their
little car made by a big Euro Automobile company, and BMW or Benz come to mind

I would be leery about using a Q-tip. They feel a bit abrasive to my
touch. I generally use only a camel hair brush, and I use that very
gently. It's rare that the brush is not sufficient. But if there is any
residue, I use a lens cleaning cloth with a dab of Kodak lens cleaning
fluid applied to on

Paul,
You should have bid "like you really wanted it". I too, have lost one or
two that I was lusting for. To see it go that cheap - without a significant
reserve - is a real shame.

Hello to All,
If you had the choice of either the Pentax 31mm f1.8
Limited lens or both the FA 28mm f2.8 and FA 35mm f2,
what would you choose?
Please only responses from those who know these lenses
well.
Thanks,

Ryan,
As one who has owned both the FA 28/2.8 and FA 35/2, I don't think it
is that important to own both. The 31 splits the focal lengths and is
reputed to be quite a wonderful lens. It also partially depends on if
you own or intend to get the 43 limited. The FA 35/2 is not too far

I had the FA35 and liked the optical quality very much: Very sharp, good
even wide open, nice bokeh, no flare or distortion. The build quality,
however, is a matter of taste. If you are happy with the FA50/f1.4 or
FA50/f1.7, you will definitely like the FA35/f2. However, if you can
