Just a few of the ones that caught my eye this month: "Do not Choose the Wrong One" by Jaume Lahuerta:
I already posted saying how I like the car, but I think the comparison with the garbage dumpster is hilarious! Great interpretation of the theme, wonderful composition (love the door), very whimsical. "Valves" by N. Ambalavanan: I'm a bit of a stereo buff. I've never owned a tube amp, but wish I could. I've heard good ones, and they sound amazing. They also look beautiful in a darkened room. Beautifully captured, here, I think! Lovely shot! "A Juxtaposition of Denali Brown Bears" by Ken Waller: You caught them in that "lumbering bear gallop"! Very cool. The photo is absolutely made, by the one on the left looking at the camera. They ~may~ be "cute", but I'd have been glad to keep my distance! "Happy Cats" by Steve Larson: Speaking of cute... Just a sweet shot, Steve. "All is Vanity" by E.R.N. Reed: Very poignant. I love the way you captured the detail of the weathered, blistered paint on the door and frame, it contrasts against the beauty and colour of the roses. I love the subtle social commentary. A powerful interpretation of this month's theme. "Sacred and Profane" by Joseph Tainter: An example of a terrific shot (and one that fits the theme wonderfully, btw), made ~all the much better~ by a wonderfully chosen title. Well done! "Bailey's Bridge" by Christopher Lillja: Wonderful composition. I like the way the rails of the bridge frame the subjects, and draw us to the dog, who has obviously noticed the child. The child seems not to have noticed the dog yet, but he should soon! I like it! "Separation" by Thibault Grouas: Maybe my favourite shot of the month. Taking the mundane, and making an abstract statement out of it. I spent lots of time pondering the tiniest of details - this photo almost demands it! The large spot of water on the rail in the centre of the shot. The water droplets on the glass, lower left hand corner. The wonderful out-of-focus areas (could it be that "Pentax bokeh" we keep talking about?). Thanks for another stunning photograph, Thibault! Ok, there's more, but my kids want breakfast now, so I hope I'll remember to get back at this tonight, once they've gone back to mom... cheers, frank -- "The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds.
