If you are able to hook up your tape player to the computer, then yes it
could work. However, the quality may not be as good as you would like., So
I would suggest that you look at using a hifi tapedeck to achieve what you
want.

Just wondering if anybody knows what programme would play MPC files. I
thought the extention was wrong so altered it to MP3 and Windows media
player informed me that the extention did not match the actual format of the
file.

How about a logitek desk mic?
They tend to have a good frequency response as others will testify on here.
I use a headset mic combi and I have no complaints.
