Well audacity is free, so worth getting. If you want to run noise reduction
plugins, then I don't know what goes with audacity for that purpose, Goldwave
has such a plugin, and of course sound forge. Now we are getting in to
significant dollars though.

You will first need to know what kind of cable to use to connect from your
record player to your computer's input. What kind of record player do you
have? one that plugs into the AC power or USB type.
