Hi Howard, Though the UMS firmware does give you the ability to directly mount the iRiver as a drive, it does have the drawback of limiting the MP3 bit rate to 96 Kbps. I'm running the UMS firmware and do not see this as a major limitation, but it is something about which one should be aware.
