Hi all.
I'm thinking of upgrading from my Windows XP Home edition computer to a
Windows XP Media Centre edition. I appreciate that I will have to upgrade
from JAWS 6.0 to JAWS PRO 7 or 8. There are a few demonstrations of just
how accessible the Media Centre is on the Blind Cool Tec site at:

hmmm. Well, it would be helpful if we knew what brand of mp3 player
it is? There are lots of mp3 players out there, so specifics are
always a good thing.

hi Sharon
The reason you can't play the audio file offline is because the .asx
file is a reference to the file you're trying to play. In other
words, the .asx file tells Windows media player ok, windows media
player! I want you to go online to this site, and play this file.

Hi, Jean. The Ilo from Wallmart is what I use. While it is not, by any
stretch of the imagination, really accessible, it's accessible enough for me
to play my Net Library books without too much hassle. I got mine from Ebay.

Hi Kathy!
Thanks for the info! This sure sounds like what I'm looking for? As I said,
I only need this to read my net library books and if this is good enough for
you, it's good enough for me!

Hi Brandon.
I don't know about the smaller files but I always download what they call cd
quality and the bit rate is 32 kb. The book i am reading now is Battle ready
by Tom Clancy and the file is 250 meg! The quality is excellent.

Hi Andy,
I'm in the states and am using Jaws 7 pro with an HP Media
Center. Obviously the first step in making the most of these two
would be to make sure you have Windows set up to work optimally with
Jaws. Given these tweaks, you should be able to access the Media
Center features, such as

I don't know of a program, but if you go to a DOS command line and type
dir/s c:\*.mp3 | find " 0 "
and press enter, you should get a list of all MP3 files on your C drive with
zero bytes (be sure to have a space before and after the 0). Change the
parameters to suit your needs.

alternatively try the Windows' own find facilities. The advanced
options allow you to specify file size.
