One of the advantages of the Stream, as it records at a low rate, is that
recordings take up less space. It's designed as a voice recorder, not
something to record a symphony concert with.
And that's for the better, in my estimation, as it discourages
bootlegging.

Thanks for all the info about the Victor Stream. I was hoping it would at
least be able to record at 128k mp3 or wma. Stereo is a good way to get
clues about your environment that mono can't do. I realize the Stream is
not intended for this purpose. I just wish it was. I don't like carrying
quot; and it does
pretty good at lecture recording also, especially with an external mic you
can aim at the speaker.

Sorry, I can't make any recommendations on such a utility. Good luck.

No, it can't. I believe it records at 20 kbps, mono. However the mic is
really really sensitive. I record things starting (cars etc), and it doesn't
sound half bad.

Hey Bruce, I will stand to be corrected. One of the first things I
tried to do with the stream was to make a short recording. I played
it back through some Sony headphones, and I thought the recording
sounded a bit tinny, but I will agree, it sounds immensely better
than many cell phone recordi
I agree with Bruce on this one.
Given that the purpose of the VR Stream is hardly as a recording device,
it actually does a rather decent job and acceptible in noncritical
recording situations.

With all true respect, while I agree with your facts, I have to disagree
at least in part with your conclusions. When compared with other
similarly-sized/purposed devices, i.e. other notetakers, cellphones,
etc., the Stream comes out remarkably well in terms of audio quality.

I just received my VRStream yesterday, and I was a little
disappointed in the quality of recording, at least from the built in
mic. Haven't had a chance to try it with an external mic. The
microphone's level of sensitivity isn't adjustable or configurable.
In other words, if you want quality for
