the function could be accomplished somehow now with the software, a hell of a
lot of tricks and extra stuff is available that isn't documented, I believe

I agree with you. it is best to have a sighted person redraw the wave form.

of the younger people probably don't do vinyl restoration like I do so they
don't
care about noise reduction.

Daveed! Noise Reduction 2.0 has nothing to do with Sound Forge
directly. It is a stand alone plug-in that works with Sound Forge and may
other programs. You have to notify Sound Forge that Noise Reduction 2.0 is
available on your system and that you would like to have it directly
available

I used gold wave on most of my productions, so when I found wave pad, I
used noise reduction from that program, and cleaned them tp to the best of
my ability.
I would stake my life on wave pad.

Yes i have.
Thoug i can not remember how the wave pad noise reduction sounded.
But i know that goldwave has a very strange warble sound to the noise.
It sounds like you have put the sound into a tin can or something simular.
I whish there was a free noise reduction tool.
