THERE IS a reset button down the side of the player. press that with a paper
clip and see if it helps. I don't know if that will clear your rockbox
software or not.

Had a similar problem some time back though I probably took the
cowards way out.
I pressed the reset button, hooked the Iriver up to my computer and
installed a later version of rockbox.

There should be a reset hole in which you can stick a toothpick or pin to
reset it.
