This stupid software does worn that if
a new one? Is this drive too old to
work with the newer programs?

I know you said that you've tried 4 different CD's, but have you tried CD's
from different brands? Some older CD burners only like certain
manufacturers. As far as figuring out what Device you have, go to device
manager by opening control panel, then system, then going to the hardware
tab, th
