The difficulty, at this stage, seems that one has to use WE

You should have no problem doing this using the tandem of WE7 and iTunes8.

episodes I wanted and then have them retrieved.

I both schedule to record and retrieve via podcast far more than I could
ever listen to.
I don't view this as a problem as it opens up the opportunity to listen
to something when and if I want to.
