Data cds work fine for me. I have made many music cds using them. The
difference seems to matter for some types of machines, like our Yamaha
stand alone cd burner. It won't recognize data cds at all - no matter how
many times you yell at it.

Mary Ellen! Many people believe that there is no technical difference
between so called Data CDs and Music CDs. It's alleged that the only
difference is a legal one. When you purchase CDs labeled as Music CDs then
the music industry gets a cut.
