even though I checked the boxes for some reason it is still coming on when I
open up out look.
I want it to stay closed unless I open it myself. would like help please.

Well, a quick search with Yahoo! says that the Zen Stone doesn't support
lossless formats. It does look like Windows Media Player, and maybe
Creative Media Lite, automatically converts lossless formats into a
lossy file format when copying the files to the Zen Stone.

for example if a badly encoded mp3 has artifacts you'll hear a sort
of swishy sound, that's the best way to describe it, especially with
higher frequency stuff

I don't know of a difference between WMA and lossless WMA. I thought
WMA was pretty much a lossless format regardless. Alls I know is what I
read in the manual and hear from Creative technical assistance, that they
play MP3 and WMA with no reference to lossless WMA.

I'm concerned about this because MP3's don't really sound all that grate to
me.
Maybe there is something wrong with my ears, but if it's a loscy file of
some kind that I'm listening to, I can hear a faint ringing noise in the 60
to 120 HZ range.
And that is bother some to me.
