rpc.pl is the 'old' style XML over RPC interface. the
nph-genericinterface.pl is the 'new' pure SOAP interface.
- Using RPC you can integrate directly with a part of the backend OTRS
APIs which are relatively low level, using the Generic Interface you can
use a bit higher level operation

Hi list,
When trying to access OTRS via SOAP, which one should I use? rpc.pl or
nph-genericinterface.pl?
The later is better documented but support fewer operations than the
former...
What's best?

I run a stable v3.2.3 on Windows 2008 R2 with 20+ agents and 100+ customers

The best option is the one you can support. The general consensus is
probably that Linux would be less problematic over time, especially via
upgrade paths, but that's not to say people haven't had success on Windows.

Depends. Conceptually, it's ... inst
in theory it's possible. in practice... i don't know. i run on windows and

Hi all,
We have OTRS 3.2.9 running on an OpenSUSE 11.2 server, but we want to have OTRS
running on a different server. The preferred OS for us is Windows, but I don't
know if running OTRS on Windows (2003/2008) is as reliable as running on Linux,
so my first question is, what is the best opt
Hi Bogdan
So your answer begs the question;
Can I just do the upgrade path on the database and skip the ‘app’ bit?

You must go through 3.1 at least for the database. Just to be safe, I would
perform a normal and complete upgrade to 3.1 as described in 3.1's
UPGRADING document. Then check the app runs OK - perhaps create a VM
snapshot at this point - and then proceed to upgrade to 3.2.

I am running version 3.0.1 (CentOS and PostgreSQL 8.1) and I want to upgrade to
the latest version 3.2.9.
In fact I am building a completely new system and decommissioning the old
hardware.
Do I have to follow the upgrade path 3.0 > 3.1 > 3.2 or is there an easier way?
