I tried to contact Jow on IRC several times unsuccesfully.
I've opened a pull request on openwrt-routing repository:

If this request is accepted, bird should be removed from the packages feed.

Yeah I agree, but bird should be removed from openwrt-packages in that case.

bird6: /etc/bird6.conf -> /etc/config/bird6
