2.6.39 removed the BKL. These patches to zaptel are getting messy;
I'm sure there's a better way to do this but I've got something that
works on 2.6.39. Probably should be tested on other kernel versions.

Compiling zlib produces zlib.pc (pkgconfig), but it is not currently
installed in staging_dir/usr/lib/pkgconfig. If it was included other
packages depending on zlib could easier be compiled.

These are taken from the Debian PHP patches. Thanks to jow and mhei for
