I'm worried by the discrepancies this will create among the programs. You
mentioned maintainability being a plus for this. I don't think it'll be

optional.

Absolutely. I have some changes I need to make to the docs anyways for the
drivers, so I created a bp.

As being someone who has reviewed many drivers into Cinder, this would be
immensely awesome. I find myself often times unsure of certain caveats in
drivers, and having this along side would reassuring.

cinder.db.sqlalchemy.api exposes snapshot_update which allows updating that
table.

delete. We didn't have Ceilometer then, so we no longer need to keep
track in each project.
Migration path of course should be thought of for the users that need this
information archived if we decide to get rid of the columns.
