As an epileptic, let me do say that the viewer has caused "auras" (sort
of a buzzing in my head that warns me of an impending seizure) and has
caused migraines, particularly due to the GL rendering area getting
"squashed" by the sidebar. It's also very disorienting to people.

It's basically the same as seasickness, or motion sickness in general...
you feel sick, because your eyes and your sense of balance tell your brain
different things. that's why a cure for seasickness is being in a spot on the
boat where you can see the horizon... so that your brain realizes that
Sounds like Virtual Environment Sickness (a perceptual dissonance malady
somewhat akin to seasickness). While it affects about 30% of the
population from the USAF studies that I've seen, I haven't read anything
to suggest that either the SL viewer or LCD monitors affect the overall
prevalence of th
Not to disagree with the entirety of your rant, but this bit seems
completely off the wall.

I'm not going to bother trying to educate you about photosensitivity
since you clearly don't have it. I'll just suggest you go read the SLU
forums and elsewhere, where people with epilepsy and other
photosensitvity problems are talking about this. And also suggest you
take note of the epilepsy

SL...viewer 2.0 isn't going to make a difference. Viewer 1.23 would have
the same effect. Maybe not in your coveted sidebar, but it SL in general.

Thanks for the clarifications. :-)
Breaking well established norms of UI design (ie the File menu, to
repeat one; there are others) makes the whole thing difficult for new
users. Why not at least put that menu back - leave the existing file

Good review here of the 2.0 interface:

Personally, I find the UI highly unintuitive, plus it breaks decades of
well established "rules", like having file operations all in the top
menu bar, under "File
People on forums have said they know where such behavior can occur, and
avoid those places. Clubs, mainland sandboxes, etc. But you'd have to
ask them.
At any rate, that's not particularly relevant here. Up until now no one
has had any reason to be wary of an LL viewer. But now, someone could

Btw, how do those people that have seizure issues deal with the
possibility of people having quickly changing particle emitters,
suddenly rezzed prims, fast moving big objects etc?

Ok, I was trying to be diplomatic, but now I'm going to be frank.
It disturbs me that LL is ignoring how dangerous the shifting behavior
of the sidebar and the blinking and winking of 2.0 is. Some people have
already had or come close to having seizures because of it, and people
without epileps
As I've said before, If you don't like it, fix it. The code is there so
think up something more useful and do it. Giving an example is a great
idea. I use the adobe suite often; however, the Lindens already have spent
plenty of money with a design company to get the look that they want.

Yah, it's just bad. Have a look at the Adobe Creative Suite UIs. You can hide
any single submenu or entry, you can mark each one with one of several colors,
you can move around
