Hi Joseph,
to get the basic installation running all you need is to download
unpack the ZIP and run it.
There is actually not so much more that can be done to improve it.
To set up the a server with all 3th party components like FFMPEG,
ImageMagick et cetera ... if you are not familiar with any o
My hosting company has been trying to install OpenMeetings 1.9 for the past
two weeks and could not get it to work properly. They tried several
operating systems. From following this discussion it's obvious that the
install process for OpenMeetings is far too complicated. I'd like to use OM

There is no special guide for that, you can use the usual docs from
Apache Tomcat 6.x.x documentation.
So you add your servlet in the web.xml and place your JAR/classes in
WEB-INF/lib or classes

How can I access Tomcat, the one used by Red5? I'd like to load a servlet in it
without having to add a proper tomcat installation.

you simply enter this URL in the browser to access openmeetings.
If you cannot use the external URL from internal you might simply add
an entry in your local network (or even hosts file)

server from within my network - but that's just me, so I don't mind. It works
so far - only the invitation url is wrong.

You need to install ALL packages of oo not just oo-core and oo-headless
... if you want to be able to import XLS you need to install the
oo-calc package ... if you want to import ppt and odp you need to
install the "draw" package (and I think the one for fonts) and so on.

After long time debug I found openoffice should be installed, otherwise
conversion using jod does not work

No you don't need.
There is a package openoffice-headless
Since version 3.x.x there is no need for any XVFB or other framebuffer
to run OpenOffice as a service.

Everybody should use the external address.
The app ready the browser.location.url to perform some of the actions,
so if people connect to the application you should make sure everybody
uses the same URL.

Hi,
I installed my openmeetings in an VM on some server which is connected to the
Internet by forwarding ports.
So the server address differs from the one which needs to be entered by folks
outside of my network.
When e.g. inviting people, the local address appears in the mail leading them

Hallo Maxim,
your tip did the trick. Its a little bit more though: The OpenOffice server is
necessary (which is consistent with the documentation). What's needed is the

Hi Conrad,
sure, I have implemented parts of both ends. The issue is that you
need to map the correct key codes for Ubuntu Flash Player for special
keys, those key codes are different depending on the machine that you
are using.
While it might be that the key code is already correctly "read" on t
