PAL/NTSC 352x288/240 is a valid DVD resolution but I'm unsure whether I should encode it as MPEG1 or MPEG2. MPEG1 Things were clear for a few days but now I'm confused again ;) Encoding and authoring PAL 352x288 1875 kb/s CBR MPEG1 for a DVD seemed to work fine until I ripped the MPEG1 back for

Apple's encoders won't encode to MPEG-1 - "how do I create MPEG-1 content" is a FAQ on the Compressor/DVDSP/FCP forums ;) I don't have Compressor but it seems that at least v1.2 has MPEG1 option:

MPEG1 is technically limited to about 1800Kb/s for DVD use. I forget exactly where I saw that but I know that DVD Studio Pro3 imposes that limit. Thanks for the info! The point is moot though since at 352x288/240 ~1Mb/s is more than sufficient. mpeg2enc -v 0 -f 0 -F 3 -n p -a 2 -b 1875 -I 0
