I just rebuild my samba file server and noticed that disklabel reports all my hard drive's rpm at 3600 although all of them support higher speeds. How come? Is it reported incorrectly or do I need to manually set the rpm using disklabel to optimize the speed? Or is there another reason and I

Kevin, thanks for the reply. I won't mess with the rpm value then. Although, I did see some dmesg on the internet that had higher rpm values. I'm not worried about the boot speed of the samba server. All that matters is the file access and data transfer speed. Original-Nachricht ---
