A couple of months late, but I just uploaded the new releases for Perl
smoker on OpenBSD version 7.3.
I had to fix some issues regarding virtualization (hardware)
configuration, but at least version 7.4 should come next pretty soon.

Horrible hack that might work:
Put a big #ifndef BOOT_QUIET inside ffs_sbupdate() to stop it from
doing the writeout.
That option serves other purposes inside the BOOT kernels, but maybe
we can find another way of abstracting it better.
