I need to do audio editing for a podcast that will be conducted via Skype or
other conferencing software.
However, I will be able to receive separate local recorded files from its
person.

Dvd remaster pro can do the job for you. It is not free but it works great and
is accessible.
You can also do this using "hand break" but then you need some other utility to
bypass the css protection found on Dvds.

Logic pro X is reasonably accessible and it is becoming more and more
accessible with each update.
People are using it with voice over with success making recordings, mixing etc.
There are issues, of course, but it is very usable.

Since you are recording a mic source, you need to set this to mono.
You set this to stereo only if you are recording music or other stereo source
such as piano or other type of music.

Well, unfortunately that’s one of the problems that came up with the new
GarageBand version.
That’s the reason that, although I have upgraded to mavericks, I did not update
my GarageBand software.
Let,s hope that a new update will fix that.

Hello.
I use NewsRack a paid application from the app store. It is very accessible and
also syncs with Google reader.
I also use Gruml, a very accessible rss reader as well. It also syncs with
Google reader, which is a good thing.

Yes there is.
You can always download the OS from the mac app store. If you purchased it
priviously, it will let you get it again.
