Hi all,
As some of you may remember, I teach, so I am often hesitant to upgrade my Mac
during the academic year. In addition, I did not have good experiences with
upgrades to IOS 16 or Watch 9, so I’m especially gun-shy about upgrade to
Ventura? I know that everyone’s mileage may vary, but ba
Hi all,
For those who shared my displeasure with the shift in Watch 9 to VO speaking
percentages rather than numbers in the activity complication, that appears to
have been fixed in 9.1. I’m using the Modular face, so cannot speak for what
happens with other watch faces.
Cheers,
Donna

seems okay to me, much more responsive. speech is much faster across the board.
I think you’ll be fine.

If you’re nervous about it, you can wait until 13.1 or so. But I’ve not found
any show-stopping bugs.

Hello all.
I will need to give a talk in couple of weeks where I will be required to use
slides.
I have never done such a thing using macOS, so I would be interested to hear
people’s experience with both creating the slides and presenting them.
Thank you very much.
Kind regards.
Lucas Nadolsk
Hi,
So you have two options for doing slides etc with the Mac:
You can use keynote - the Mac presenter application - I find it fairly easy to
use and you can create slides and save the presentation fairly easily. The
slide formatter area allows you to add slide transitions as well. Keynote also
Thanks much, Jerry, it, indeed, helped!
Now one more supplementary question:
The voice rate changes in the increment of five, Can I adjust it with some
smaller increment, please?
Thanks!

Hi!
THere is a simple assistant in the utilities folder on your Macs.
Just use that and follow the instructions.
Why complicate things when not needed.

Hi!
Well, its a good question.
For me seem to work quite good except from that I can not get English speech.
Only Swedish so far.
But I haven’t have time to check things out.
Maybe you should wait until the season is over.
So you could take time to learn the new system settings app.
Just one exampl
Hello Donna:
What makes you hesitate about upgrading your Mac?
what subjects do you teach and what programs do you use? That might help us
figure out what would be best for you.

Well, at least you can get your own language. I think if I had to pick, I
rather have my language than a second one. :)
I have the link to the AppleVis guide to System Settings. If I do upgrade, I’m
sure I’ll be checking that out in detail.

Hi Mickey,
I teach Spanish. I don’t really use anything too unusual - Word, Mail, Safari,
QuickTime and Amadeus Pro. I guess what makes me hesitant is that I was really
unhappy after upgrading my phone and my watch. Basic things about using them
with Voiceover were either broken, didn’t work
Donna,
Have you checked out the bugs found vintora article on applevis? I have been
using iit since one of the betas and have not found any mager problems. I
always do a clean refresh after any mager os upgrade which seems to help with
preventing problems. In any event, I have a stable syste
Thanks, Matthew and everyone for your responses. I have checked out that
article, and I don’t see anything that would be a show stopper for me. I think
I will probably take the plunge on Sunday.

space in iCloud to use either of them.
Thanks again.

Well, I want to agree with Brad and Jason. It's essentially what I'm
planning to do sometime next spring when the (hopefully) M3 laptops are
released.
I do have some caveats, however.
For instance this next time around I plan to rely a bit more on folders
even for grouping applications. I am slow
I'm rather wishing I'd waited. I'm upgraded yesterday, so have limited
experience. But I had issues just getting applications list to work as
expected under Finder today--right when I didn't need the headache of
systems not working as expected.
Then there are those wonderful notifications wanting
And is there any way to create a list of ones you use often to launch them
quickly?
Understand that when on the menu bar the last application run is there,
but that is not what I mean.
Thanks,
Karen

Hi Janina,
What you describe is exactly why I often wait till summer to upgrade. It’s so
frustrating to be trying to get something done, and be bogged down by Apple

I believe you are asking if there is a way to assign a key sequence to
automatically launch a specific app. For instance, I have a Commander using
the “w” to launch MS-Word. When I wish to use MS-Word I type in the key
