I updated my Intel Mac Mini to the latest Monterey this morning. I am
getting that periodic beep-chime and I can't seem to get rid of it.
VO+N tells me no notifications; and on a second press tells me no
announcements.
I'm flummoxed (and annoyed) yet again. Seems like some settings aren't
honored
Try pressing VO + F1 twice quickly to open the application windows menu,
and see if there are some system dialogs up.

Have you tried using the window chooser? When this happens to me, usually I can
find the thing that’s causing the problem by going into the window chooser.

There was a legacy extension dialog. That reminds me that I've heard
messages previously following upgrades, about some Oracle support due to
be removed.

keyboard commander because it was quick and easy and these system alerts often

means you need to change another option. Look at the first option in
that window and if its checked, that is why the other options are dimmed.
