How did you resolve the problem?
Just curious.

It would appear my focus display was still paired with the previous mac so i
wasn’t able to pair it with another. I had to remove it from my previous mac
and then pairing it with the new one was as expected. Silly me, I should have
thought about it sooner. :)

If you’re using an M1-based Mac system, you can run various iOS applications on it. I won’t be able to test this until my hardware arrives, but I have heard reports that VoiceOver for Mac performs well in this scenario. On 10/25/21, 21:33, "macvisionaries@googlegroups.com" wrote:I think that we sh
Hi guys,
Thanks for a most interesting thread on the M1 machines.
For some context and to answer the question posed, I currently have the late
2020 MacBook Pro m1 13-inch and have just taken delivery of the iMac.

My experience of iOS apps on Apple Silicon is that while it works in principle,
you probably will find that it’s more trouble than it’s worth in practice. It

Hi, Group.
Last Night, I upgraded my Macbook-Pro-2017, left computer on and went to
bed. This morning, Voiceover does not speak. Siri is turning VO on/off as I
am asking her but VoiceOver is not speaking.
Any suggestions, please?
Thanks!

I know on my Mac it switched voices on me when I updated. I had to add back in
my siri voice. Do you have any UsB headphones plugged in? If so, try unplugging
them and see if VO comes through the speakers. Could also be a volume level
issue.

Hi,
I think that Herbie is on the right track. If you have been using a different
voice other than Alex, I’ve seen where updates somehow lose the voice you used
to have as default. Try using the rotor to pick a different voice. Press
VO-cmd-shift-down a time or two to see if you hear any spe
Thanks much, Tim.
I tried VO-Command-Shift-Down arrow and I was able to land where you have
several options to choose the VoiceOver parameters from. Here I heard Alex
voice. I went ahead and selected Sammantha, the voice of my choice but she is
not speaking anything other than the following:

Hi,
WEll, we’ve made progress. You now have speech. If VO is announcing that
there’s nothing in the VoiceOver cursor, try clicking your mouse or trackpad.
If still nothing, try VO-f1-f1 to open the Application Chooser and see what
options are there for you. If still nothing, restart your M
Thanks much, Tim.
I am ashamed of my ignorance, may I know how to click mouse or trackpad, please?
Thanks!

Hi,
If you have a laptop, simply press down on the trackpad. You’ll feel a click.
Similarly, if you have a mouse, press down on the left top side of it and
you’ll feel a click. The click is pretty well the same as a VO-shift-space
that we use in VO, but not exactly the same.

Thanks much, Tim.
I restarted computer and I heard nothing. I turned off and back on VoiceOver
with Command-touchID and everything seems to be ok now.
Thanks much for all of your help again.

I think it's probably too soon to update but I'd like to know what those of you
who did it think of Monterey. I'm still running Catalina. I have a late 2014
Mac mini still running very well. I'm not inclined to install Big Sur. I never
heard anything I liked about it. Catalina is fine except for
Hi lorry i was told that if you have a MacBook 2014 you are unable to get

I thought you could get it on a 14? Regardless, it’s worth the update. I agree
with those who say it responds quicker to key commands.

Did the Monterey update yesterday, and so far it has been a stable update. I
have not experienced any accessibility issues, but it has only been 24 hours.
Overall, it seems to be pretty much the same as Big Sur, with a few new
features.
I say there is no reason not to go ahead and update.

You have been told wrong.
Monterey will run on any system that will run Big Sur.

Try updating the software for Big Sur first.
That is what I had to do.

Monterey will run
Open System Preferences > Software Update, and see which update is offered.
If Monterey is offered, then there is no reason to do Big Sur first.

Well,
I was behind on the Big Sur updates, and my first attempt at upgrading failed
so that is why I updated Big Sur first.

I noticed this on occasion as well, and it’s always hit or miss after the
computer goes to sleep. Sometimes it will announce on waking that I need to
enter my password, and sometimes it will be completely silent.
