Thanks all for this.
Any suggestions on how I could get spell check working again though?
When ever I try it it just says check document now, and that’s it,
even when I’ve deliberately spelt something wrong.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Hello Kary,
Have you tried Cmd-Semicolon? That’s my preferred way of spell checking anyhow.

Your Mac requires that the windows account you are signing in to have a
proper username and password. You cannot use guest. You will need to make
sure you have a password setup on your Windows 7 user account, and that
your Windows 7 user account has full permission to access that shared
Drive.
Hello Anne,
No, I didn’t try that, but I will.
Thank you very much,

Hi,
Try using cmd-colon instead of cmd-semi-colon. The cmd-colon will open a
window and progress through the document much the same as cmd-semi-colon but

Hi,
I didn't mention that you just need to add the shift key to the combination
that you're used to to use the method I was suggesting.

Hi, Anders,
Yes, Robobraille was definitely the site whose name I was trying to recall.
The site has been around for seven or eight years now, and at least back in
2010, it was very good.
Thanks so much for that piece of information!
Take care,
Mike

Hi Cary,
of course it says check document now because that’s what it does. But because

You press control option shift M (vo shift M) on the file in finder.
Choose open with.
Choose text edit.
While editing, keep both text edit and safari open.
If text edit doesn't appear where I said it would, do the following.
Press control option shift M (vo shift M) on the file in finder.
Hello,
am I remember correctly Apple announcing Siris ability to translate words or

translated using Siri? I’m not able to find the right syntax as it seems.
Thanks and all the best
