No. There is not. however, there is a free piece of software called Linein.
this is put out by the same people who make Audio Highjack Pro. I believe the
company is called Roag Ameba Software. This APP called Line in will let you do
exactly what you want in the way of monitoring your audio
Hi Eric. Go to the growl section of system preferences. Under the display
options tab, you can set the default display style. Speech is one of these
display styles. I don't know if anything actually appears on the screen when
you use the speech display style.

If you two-finger double tap at the top of the track pad, the menu comes up.
No need to create a gesture.

Hi all,
I just wanted to let everyone know if you try to register an AppleCare
Protection Plan with Safari 5, VoiceOver will keep restarting. You have to
install and use Webkit in order for VO to work properly again. Hmm, I'm
noticing this more and more. I switched back to Safari 5, because Au
Or you could press control + F2 (really not sure why they added VO + M) and
then press f for file, e for edit etc.

Hi everyone:
Ok, I'm playing here with the mac, doing what I do best to learn by exploring
keyboard help etc. It suddenly strikes me that I wish for an easier way to get
a letter spoken phonetically, or a word spelled out. I seem to be unable to
press vo+shift+c with one hand. So, while I was
Thanks Darcy,
I found the setting right where you said. It seems to be working. But
can you or others tell me do you actually find it helps at all, or are these
messages just duplicates of what I would hear anyway?
Thanks for the help. I'll leave it running for awhile to see how i
Hello!
I enable my screen curtain because A: I don't like people being able to look
over my shoulder while I'm using my computer, and B: I assume that it saves a
bit of battery power. However, I was under the impression that the screen
curtain would behave like it does on the IPhone and reacti

Pardon my elementary question since I am new to the Mac. Is WebKit a new
browser? I thought it was the technology on which Firefox, Opera and the like
were built. Please clarify. Rajiv

Hi,ÚÚ
No Webkit is another browser like FIrefox. I forget who makes it. I think it's
webkit.org. When VoiceOver acts up and restarts I use Webkit. It works with
Audible and now the Apple site again. I will now probably use Webkit
exclusively. Have a great day!

HI there,
Each time you launch Voiceover, you will need to reactivate the screen curtain.
Perhaps this is a feature request for future versions of VO. Each time you
relaunch VO, it would tell you the status of the screen curtain.

Webkit is not a browser, but an open standard on which Safari and at least one
other browser is built on. If memory serves me, when you open the Webkit
application, it is really calling Safari and using a different version of
Webkit.

Hi All,
I recently attempted to burn a CD using iTunes. The disc burned but when I
played it on my home CD player it skipped. Of course, the problem could be the
brand of cd but I have also heard that iTunes is not the greatest burner.
I decided to try a free burner called burn but can't figure
Hi Scott,
Thanks for correcting me. I'm sorry I got my facts wrong. I apologize to the
list for that. Have a great day.
I didn't know Webkit was an extension of Safari.

I am not sure if iTunes will give you the option, but if you can lower your
burning speed to 4x, this should eliminate skip issues.
As for other accessible burning applications, try Toast. I remember seeing that
on a VO compatible page. I'm not sure if Wave Burner is VO accessible, but it

Me again,
In iTunes, click the Burn Disc button. You will be able to access your burner's
speed settings from there. Set it to 4 or 2x for optimal burning speed.
Hope this helps,
Kevin

How about Simply Burns? I'm told it really works well with VO.

John,
The screen curtain doesn't automatically activate when yo turn vo on. You have
to turn it on manually by hitting
vo shift f 11, or, vo shift function f 11 if you have it set that way.

Hi,
I have a question, is toast free? If not, how much does it cost?

For saving the battery, rather than using the screen curtain, I would turn the
display brightness all the way down to 0, that will totally turn off the screen
lighting.
