Accessing the speech rotor should also work (VO-cmd-arrow keys).

VO said nothing. Same when I pressed Down Arrow. Then I pressed VO-F1,
VO read the title of the current app, and all was well. Go figure.

use VO-Command-Down Arrow and
Margaux starts reading. Then I repeat the command and Fred is back.

Hi Anna,
This is a little conflict that currently exist between VoiceOver and
the system voice when they are trying to do speech at the same
time. If you press the control key when you run into this
situation, everything should work OK.
