Actually, it really doesn't matter which order you do it in. I would usually
do the latter though as I'd let the MBP start up with its own stuff then attach
the USB device after the fact. As a matter of interest, they'll both work at
the same time also, so, you could pretend you were play

It does not matter, you can connect the keyboard prior or after boot without
any concern of problems.
