For what it's worth you can pretty much undo every action in file>edit>Undo, or
cmd+Z, and deleting something in the finder only moves it to the trash folder.
You have to empty the trash to really delete a file or files in the finder. In
Mail, all deleted messages are sent to the trash folder.

Not that I'm aware of. it should how ever warn you about deleting itmes from
the trash. if you del something and put it int he trash cmd z should bring it
back.
