Hi all, I was listening to a podcast in Safari, which was fine, but limited on
moving through the podcast.
What podcast app do you use on Mac?
Has anyone used Pocketcasts?

I use overcast on a regular basis, and I know that they have a web interface,
but not sure about a Mac app. There are two things I really like about overcast.

I’d use Downcast because it has a Mac app, but it has (had?) a distressing
habit of destroying its synchronisation state database on a fairly regular
basis. How are things nowadays with that app. Are there really any other
choices for users of both iOS and macOS, besides Apple Podcasts and iTune

I highly recommend Overcast. It is straight-forward, uncluttered and free.

Hello,
I am running the latest IOS on my iPhone 5S. At home I use iTunes on my iMac to
download podcasts which I then transfer to my iPod Nano to listen to. But when
away from home I use the podcast app on my iPhone.
My problem is that the podcast app downloads many episodes which I have
Hello,
I use the Apple podcast App provided in IOS 11.0.3. I subscribe to a dozen or
so podcasts mostly from BBC radio. I sometimes listen to the target program
live but leave it on the podcast list in case I miss an episode.
The result is that I have rather a lot of old podcasts displayed in
e, so far, that, barring a few minor differences, the look
and feel and use of the podcast section at iTunes is very similar to that of
the podcast app.
In fact, I suspect, that, what Apple did was this. On the iPhone, they broke

Hi all,
Has anybody else noticed a new bug with the Apple podcast app on ios? Since the
update of this week, when I go to play a podcast, the phone freezes and nothing
plays. Eventually, I can tripple click home VO off and on again and everything
returns to normal. I can then play the podcast
Yep, I am sure that the iCloud sync is a no brainer for the developer. I'd
certainly buy the app as well but I don't really know that I would listen to
many podcasts on my Mac.

This sounds really cool! All he would need to do after that is set up
iCloud access so we could sync up our shows between the iToys and the

Hi Marc!
You can set up a shortcut under commanders in VO utility [VO+f8]
You can choose to either use a keyboard or trackpad or if you have one Numpad!
Also if you have not already got any commanders running under VO+f8 in general
select the [allow VO to be controlled by Applescripts] checkbox!
Hi Esther,
Yes, it took me a while to tackle these scripts but it's not hard once you
follow the good instructions that you provide. I will move them to the itunes
folder and see what happens next. I assume you can assign a keyboard shortcut
for these. Wondering where that might be done. Perhaps
Hi Marc,
There's probably a better way to amend the AppleScripts, but not switching back
to iTunes just reflects usage, I think. Originally when I used these
AppleScripts, I loaded them into the iTunes AppleScript menu instead of the
general AppleScript menu for the System. Specifically, inste
And it works great. I noticed that Quicktime stays open when the "return to

Hi Esther,
Thank you for this tip. I downloaded an opml file of my podcast subscriptions
into itunes. Do you know if they can be sorted into folders instead of one long
list? Can you point me to a resource on how to build this apple script file?
Thanks much.

Hi Mark,
I use a couple of AppleScripts to speed up playback of tracks selected
in iTunes and return to normal speed. iTunes itself doesn't support
variable speed playback, but QuickTime Player, which it uses, does. So
the scripts just pass the current position in the track to QuickTime

Two words spring to mind when using the Apple podcast app "half baked". Let's
hope it gets updated in iOS 6. I would also like to see the app sync my
podcast playlist that is on iTunes via iCloud.
I don't think Downcast need to worry at this stage.
