Thanks Cara, THis was a fascinating read. It didn't solve my issue because time machine snapshots are currently only using 1.6 MB. Something called "other" is using up 94 gb of 250 gb with no indication of what "other" is. I learned a lot from reading the article though. Best, Erik Burggraa

Hi Erik, It sounds like you may have your local backups enabled. If you have Time Machine enabled but do not have your backup drive connected, TM saves backups to your local drive. Needless to say, this can take up an awful lot of space and be incredibly confusing to trace if you are not aware

Hi, I did have a look at activity monitor today when I happened to be sitting in front of my computer and heard the fan spin up. I'm sure I'm missing something, but it wasn't apparent to me which piece of info showed the disk space usage. Do I have to do something special to see that item?

Eric, did you do the usual antivirus, clean my mac type things to maybe get rid of bloatware, adware, etc? I know you said you ran malware bytes, but in my limited experience, sometimes that’s not enough.. and, you aren’t being hacked, right? Cait > On Nov 26, 2015, at 2:19 AM, erik burggraaf

Have you checked your activity monitor? It can show you what process is eating up all that space. Once you’re aware of which process is causing the issue we can start narrowing down a good solution. > On Nov 26, 2015, at 12:19 AM, erik burggraaf wrote: > > Hi, I'm having a very strange proble

Hello Erik, Is your SSD one you installed yourself? If so, could Trim Enabler have stopped working? Safari can also eat up space, but your situation sounds much too drastic to be Safari misbehaving. Cheers, Anne > On 26 Nov 2015, at 08:19, erik burggraaf wrote: > > Hi, I'm having a very st

Hi, I'm having a very strange problem. At first I believed it might be my 4-year-old SSD showing it's age, but I don't know... Last week my mac reported that I was low on disk space. So, I moved 20 gb of files off into storage drives. An hour after moving all the files, my mac again reported
