Hi John,
The issue of the JAWS insert key on the Mac only arises if you are
trying to use JAWS with Windows in a virtual environment (Fusion)
where it coexists with the Mac OS X and where you are using a keyboard
without a numeric keypad. It does not arise if you are using BootCamp

In my experience with Jaws on a virtual Windows machine on a Mac I
had, I found Jaws to be somewhat sluggish and stuttery. So I used a
copy of Supernova that I had for Windows XP; it worked so much better
than Jaws. I don't know if they fixed any glitches in Jaws since Jaws

I'm purchasing a new mac in a couple of days and I need to run windows for a
couple of work related apps.
I saw emails on this list a couple of weeks ago discussing a problem with the
jaws key on a mac.
Using the laptop keyboard layout in jaws the caps lock becomes the jaws key.
Why would this

Hi,
Yes, JAWS-key will never work. You will need to reassign a couple of keys in
JAWS and have them use insert instead. It's always been an issue, and no one
apparently
low up at the time but if I had to use

Hi,
Well, it's actually not too difficult to work around that. A program for
Windows called Sharp Keys from
http://www.randyrants.com/sharpkeys/
can take care of the problem. That done with, you can just reassign a couple of
JAWS keystrokes and you're good to go.

The
The biggest problem I've found using Jaws in Vmware is the lack of an insert
key. This hasn't been a major problem but I'm not using my mac on my job. If
I was I'd try the keyboard map utility someone mentioned on this list.
Unfortunately I don't recall its name but I'm sure someone has it.

Oh, I forgot to mention, one disadvantage of Fusion is that the
performance isn't as high as bootcamp since it is layered on top of OSX
while bootcamp runs Windows directly just like any other 'real' windows
machine. You also have to buy Fusion while bootcamp is free.

Which works for you depends a bit on how you will be working with the
two platforms. The nice thing about fusion is it makes Windows into just
another app. So you fire it up when you need something in Windows and
you quit when you're done. With Bootcamp you're pretty mcuh rebooting
the machine
You have it all right. I will leave your questions to someone on the list to
answer, but I will say that I use Windows both in Bootcamp and virtually on a
13 inch Mac Book Pro and all is well.

I'm making the leap to a mac yet my work will require the use of some windows
applications. I have a failing pc and I don't have the resources to purchase
two separate machines so I plan to install windows and jaws on my new mac. I'm
looking at a 13" mac book pro.
It seems like I have a choice
