This should have been totally workable using rules in Mail on the Mac by
choosing these options respectively in the Criteria area:
• "From", "Contains" and entering facebookmail in the Edit field.
I agree that GMail is less than friendly at getting around. It's not
impossible by any means

manage making the change on the mac and not bothering with gmail. I only use
one machine so no worries about syncing anything.
