Hi Scott.
I have a PacMate. It will not work as a direct braille display on the Mac,
unless you take the braille display off the PacMate part. This is not true of
some note takers where you have different modes. Just take the braille display
off, and VoiceOver should immediately recognize it wh
Or, perhaps one could look in the ITunes app store; which, as you may know,
features some apps not to be found in the Mac app store.

Rachel,
Glad some one took the time to answer a lot of Scott's questions. I can add
that I use my PAC Mate's 40 character display with VoiceOver all the time. The

with that. As for trying to sync the actual PAC Mate,
Hi Scott,
I can answer some of your questions. The Mac comes with TextEdit which is like
Notepad in Windows, but a bit fancier. you can do some simple formatting in

It can be done by hand but it is unnecessary. According to this Apple article,
the maintenance operations are done when the computer wakes from sleep or is

Hi,
There is no need to defrag a Mac. The Mac does its own optimizing in the

Dear Karen,
I have not done this myself in all the years I have had a Mac except back in
the 90's with Disk First Aid. I did open disk Utility and went to Disk
Utility Help. Under Disk Repair it tells how to repair the disk. If it is
the disk that is also being used as the start up disk,
I refresh Safari. I've run first aid under disk utility to see if there are
errors. I've also gone to the processes to see if something is stuck running,
like a print job. I've only been a Mac user for 18 months,so maybe I'm just not
understanding her question?

Hi there,
it seems my friend Rita means refreshing her mac, something she says she
does often when it starts to run slowly?
How often do you personally refresh your drive?
She says she has been using the disc utility since 2006 for this purpose.

Hello Everyone,
VoiceOver decided to go back to it's default settings. I'm not exactly
sure how it did that.
Can someone please remind me how I could have it not echo every letter
as I type? How can I prevent these settings from going back to the
defaults?
